Finally our season started on Saturday. Both clubs had good pitching performances (Richie G) went the distance for the Thunder. Jerry Solomon, who SO 6 batters in 4 innings giving up 1 hit and no runs. Artie Gianakos, the old WAR HORSE!!! finished up for the final 3 allowing 2 hits and no runs, SO 2 to preserve the Yankees 5-0 victory. Steve Vangelder led the Yankees 12 hit attack with 3 hits (3 singles) and Dave Latina added 2 hits (triple/double) and knocking in 3 runs with a key bases loaded triple in the 4th inning. Mike Eplite and Todd Baldwin also chipped in with 2 singles each. Next up for the Yankees will be the VERY TOUGH Hornets squad next Sunday noon at New Scotland field.
The infield seem to have some magic happening as well. After the game a few guys from each team hung out in the lot and tailgated on Provolone, Turkey and Ham sandwiches that Steve picked up on a Beer run. after a few Brewskies , Jokes and Tampa war stories we headed out and looked forward to next weeks game.
