No Hitter!

Saturday morning at New Scotland, Chuck Sohl and Phil Gadomski combined on a no hitter for the Silver Marlins. That feat is big enough, but this was against a tough Cubbies line-up. Both pitchers had good command of the strike zone, using all their breaking stuff on any count to keep the Cubs hitters off balance. Almost as good on the hill for the Cubs were Ron Massaroni and Tom Sheperdson. Mr. Massaroni left one pitch up in the zone to Ron Lochner, who promptly drilled that pitch off the left field wall for a RBI double, scoring Randy Craft from second with the only run of the game. That was about it for pitching mistakes in this one. The two teams displayed very good pitching and defense for this early in the season. For the rest of you guys in the 37+ division, BEWARE! This Cubbies team will win a lot of games this year, with three top-line pitchers, a better-than-average defense, and an explosive offense. They will give any team in this league all they can handle. Good Luck Cubbies! We will see you again Wednesday night, June 11 at New Scotland.

I was watching that game from a table on the third base line between the fence and third. Not only was it a great game for both teams,I seen that shot that drilled the fence about 2 ft short of a homer. what a way to open the season. the D on both sides was flawless.

Congrats on the no-hitter. That is one tough feat in a league with so many good hitters.
