The Bluejays defeated the Reds by a score of 15-4 Tuesday night. Rick Lofferdo started on the hill for the Jays and went the distance, pitching a very good game. He also added a double, scored 3 times and had 2 stolen bases. Other hitters for the Jays were Steve Vangelder (double, 2 singles and 4 RBI's); Brian Maiello (inside the park home run and a single with 3 RBI's); Mark Mitchell (2 singles and 2 RBI's); and Russ McBride with a double. For the Reds, Mark (second batter) had a double with 2 RBI's. Fred Phillips had 2 singles with an RBI. The Jays did most of their scoring in an 8-run fifth inning. The Reds did not quit during the game. They kept playing hard all the way. They are a good team that has lost some key players in the off-season. They will rebuild, I am sure. The Reds have been tenacious since they joined our league several years back and they will continue to be tenacious.
