Hornets vs. Black Sox

To begin, Konstantakis for the Hornets and Burriesci for the Sox, twirled gems of a game. When these teams get together they play a good brand of baseball, the type of game you are pleased to play in. The Sox pushed across 2 runs in the bottom of the first, and the score remained so untill the 4th when the Hornets plated their 1st run. In the bottom of the 4th Noto was HBP, which ultimately became the undoing for Jim K. The Hornets scored their 2nd run in the top of the 5th to tie it up. The Sox went quietly in the bottom of the frame. With 1 out Stark hit a mammouth double, which, but for the speed of Sarubbi in center, could have been a triple. Burriesci, with pinpoint location, retired the next two Hornets to escape unscathed. After the first Sox batter in the 6th was retired, Sarubbi came to the plate. With his speed, he forced a quick throw from the Hornets infielder which sailed high, allowing the go ahead run to reach 1st base. The following 2 Sox batters were HBP, forcing Jim K. to relinquish the mound. Bob "The Bopper" Noto stepped to the plate, and , as the Sox have so often seen him come through with big hits for RBI, he didn't disappoint, and ripped a single driving in two, followed by Gary Fish's SAC Fly plating the final run for the Sox. Burriesci toed the rubber in the top of the 7th and quickly dispatched of the Hornets. Final score Black Sox 5 and Hornets 2. It was a good brand of baseball, with the pitcher's around the plate all game long , the batters swinging, and the fielder's making plays. The game took less than 2 hours to play. The men in blue (red), called a fine game. The Hornets were led offensively by Stark with 2 doubles and a run scored, Lebonowski with a double and RBI, Lannen with a single and run scored and Remington with a single and RBI. Leading the Sox was Burriesci, who struck out 4, allowed 5 hits and 1 earned run. The offense was paced by Sarubbi with 2 hits and 2 runs scored, Meyers with 2 runs scored and Noto, reaching base 3 times, with 2 singles and HBP, and 4 rbi.

Don't let the Hornets record fool you. This is one solid baseball team and I'm sure they will end up with many more W's than L's on their ledger. Looking forward to our next meeting fellas.
