Thurs 6/5 A's 11 - Giants 3

A's 11 - Giants 3...last night at SUNY Albany. For the A's, Brian Kent pitched a complete game scattering 7 hits while recording 4 strikeouts. The defense played a solid game behind Brian all night, highlighted by several running grabs by Kevin Golden in right. George Schillinger led the A's with 2 hits and 3 rbi's. Alex Marin, Ray Demers and Jim Moore also had 2 hits each. David Schillinger was 1 for 2, 3 sb's and 4 runs scored. The A's kept the pressure on a solid Giants team all game scoring runs in each of the first four innings and putting the game out of reach with 4 in the bottom of the sixth. Don't let the score fool you. Giants had the bases loaded, no outs, and the A's against the ropes mid-game. But were only able to plate 1 run. The Giants were missing a couple of players, and are always a tough team to beat. This may have even be a first for the A's. Giants leadoff hitter, Rob Malachowski had three singles, scored a run and drove in one. Wayne Philips had two singles and two RBI. Jim Keegan walked twice and singled sharply to right. Both Jerry Solomon and Jim Keegan pitched very well, and have excellent stuff. We just had some breaks go our way. Good Luck the rest of the way.... stay healthy.
