Hornets 5 Yankees 4

The Hornets rode the arm of Chris Abrams to victory last night over the defending 46+ champion Yankees. Chris threw a complete game allowing just two earned runs to a potent Yankee lineup.

Kevin Jackson gave the Yankees a 2-0 lead in the second with a long HR to left field. The Hornets cut the lead to 2-1 then fell behind 3-1 before tying it at 3. Yankees went ahead 4-3 before Ron Smaka hit a long HR to tie it at four in the fifth.

In the bottom of the seventh with one out Billy Smith reached on an error and Jim Whitford lined a double to left; after a walk loaded the bases Tony Nardacci hit a soft liner over the drawn in infield to send the Hornets to their third straight win.

Jim Whitford made his debut for the Hornets last night; Jim had not played hard ball since 1994 and promptly hit one off the fence in his first AB. On the night Jim had a double, single and two rbi. Nice debut huh?

A hard fought game between league rivals came down to the bottom of the 7th inning. The game tied 4-4, and with the bases loaded, Tony Nardacci singled with a drawn in infield with one out to win it for the Hornets 5-4.
Chris Abrams scattered only 6 hits to get the win, and "OLD WARHORSE" Artie Gianakos also pitched into the 7th and took the tough loss.
Both Ron Smaka ( 3 hits/Hornets) and Kevin Jackson ( 2 hits/Yankees) homered in the very competitive contest. Todd Baldwin chipped in with 2 hits for the Yankees while Whitford and Perry had two hits for the Hornets.
Yanks drop to 5-2 and the Hornets improve to 3-3.
