The Hornets won their sixth consecutive game with a 7-3 win over the Veterans. Bob Bolt had a no hitter through five but Mike Hart led off the sixth with a booming double off the fence to spoil his bid. Bolt came out of the game at that point and the Hornets hung on for the win.

Jim Whitfords bases clearing triple in the fifth broke open a tight pitchers dual between Bolt and Hart.

Ron Smaka and Dick Stark each had two hits to lead the Hornets.
