ALL-STAR CHALLENGE

There will be a twist to this year's All-Star games.

CDMSBL will hold its first All-Star Challenge on Saturday Oct. 4 at Town of New Scotland Park on Swift Road. The 25s will play the 37s, then after an open-to-all HR Derby, the 37s will play the 46s.
Rain date: Sunday Oct. 5.

The roster for the 37s will obviously have to be expanded to accommodate two 9-inning games. That will be taken care of. With 14 teams, it is the biggest division from which to choose.

Here's some details:

GAME 1:
- 10:45 a.m.
- 25 Division vs. 37 Division (wood bat only)
If any player is selected for both squads, he will play with the older group.
- 9 innings.
- Pitchers can only pitch 3 innings. (Do NOT have to be consecutive).

HR DERBY
- 2 p.m.
- Open format. Anyone can enter.
- Metal bat HR = 1 point; Wood bat HR = 2 points.
- 12 swings.
- Bring your own pitcher. I will be available (I pitched to Girard in the past and he won twice. I may charge him this year!)
- $10 per player entry fee.
- Winner gets the pot.

GAME 2:
- 3:45 p.m.
- 37 Division vs. 46 Division (wood bat)
If any player is selected for both squads, he will play with the older group.
- 9 innings
- Pitchers can pitch only three innings. (Do NOT have to be consecutive).

***(Pitchers for the 37 teams may pitch 3 innings in each of the games, but there should be enough pitching to avoid this).

BASICS
- The home team will be the older division in each game.

- Each division manager must submit their nominations for the respective teams to the All-Star manager by Tues. Sept. 2. Rosters must be in place by Friday Sept. 12.

- Each player is to wear his team's full uniform. Anyone who shows up with no socks or cutoff sleeves will not play.

- Game 1 MUST start on time.

- We will need 10-15 minutes between HR Derby and Game 2 to line and drag the field.

- Each team gets a half hour to get in their BP and fielding practice. The visitors go first. So, that's an hour prior to the 10:45 start. Meaning, get on the field by 9:25 so we have 5 minutes for the exchange of teams off and on the field and then 15 minutes afterward to drag and line the field before game time.

- Does anyone know of someone who can sing the National Anthem? If not, we'll need somene with a boon box and a CD of the Anthem if we don't. Serious suggestions please.

We are going to need volunteers in several capacities. If you are interested in volunteering your time, please advise me at jrbtc@aaahawk.com.

I suggested this format at a board meeting. Everyone seemed to like it, so I get to chair it. HELP!

Thanx.
