For those of us who complain about the wrong call, the right rule, or the aches and pains after and during a game...... go to ESPN and check out the John Challis story. It will put things a little more in perspective for us.
Good luck to all those guys still playing.... stay safe and healthy.
Ed, you are so right. The Challis story should teach us all some lessons. But then again, 9/11 should have as well. If our very own confrontations were put in perspective, we then would have a much smoother running league.
Just look at those we've lost in CDMSBL and in MSBL National. Stories like this in almost every issue.
We so often forget tragedies like Hurricane Katrina and the zillion others that have affected so many innocent people. Hell, at our age, we are still playing baseball. Who'd a thunk it!
Challis' sister put it in proper perspective as well when she said John wouldn't be there to be an uncle to her kids, and that her perspective on her approach to each day of her life has changed.
Sad story indeed. Thanx, Ed, for putting us on to it.
