Cubs 6, HumminBirds 2

Jon Martin pitched the Cubs into the 37+ Finals with relief help from Ron Massaroni in the Cubs 6-2 victory on Friday night at the Bob. Jon pitched no-hit ball into the fifth inning when the Humminbirds scored two runs to cut the Cubs lead to 3-2. Cubs answered with a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh to secure the victory. In addition to his clutch relief work, Massaroni also contributed with two key hits for the Cubs. Andy Hoyle was stellar at third base all series long and again was huge at the plate on Friday with two more hits and two runs scored. Tom Maney and Jim Walter also chipped in with two hits each. Hats off to the HumminBirds who always play the game with class and were forced to play game three without all their top players. Cubs face the Giants in game one of the Finals Monday night at Bob Moore.

Congrats to my Brothers on the Cubbies!!!
I am real upset now that the Silver Marlins did not hold up our end of the bargain!
Great job Jonny Martin. Please save a little of that arm for Florida in November. Mitch and Randy have already booked their flights
Special congratulations to Jim McQuade on putting together this championship run in your inaugural season in this division. It shows why you were such an easy choice for 25+ Hall of Fame. I wish you luck in the Finals against the Giants. I will stop by Monday night to say hello with a few extra soldiers for the cooler session after the game!!!

congrats Cubs. and I also salute the H'birds for yet another strong season. The three time champs seemed poised for yet another title after sewing up the regualr season title. Seems the Cubs had thier number though having beat them 4 of 5 this year including a hard to get win down Gruner way. hats off to Jerry Hawkin's Hummers on a great season; you can bet you'll see plenty of All-leaguers from this well managed squad.

And what a great year fo rth eCubs. with many first itme divsions players getting adjuted to the wood and the new pitchers in time to get that coveted 4th seed and then get by the defending champ O's squad, andthen by the regualr season champs. they seem to be building steam as they go.

And the same could be said for the surging Giants , coming out of the 10th seed to reach the finals , A good job by Jimmy Konstantakis to keep his team focused through a shakey May and June.

Way it stacks up , this will be a fun series. Luenello, Soloman, the Martins , Massaroni, Shepardson will all no doubt figure in but this series mght very well go down to the final out of game three with postion players toeing the rubber and the nine batter coming through. good luck Cubs and Giants.
