They're not going to screw me!

Thanks to all for the words, thoughts, and probably more than a few raised Coors Lights. I found out this afternoon that I won't need any hardware. They removed the cast and did more x-rays and say it is healing well. The lovely young internist was kind enough to wear a loose fitting shirt when putting on my new cast, which further brightened up a gloomy day.biggrin.gif I go back on October 7th for a re-check and hopefully get this cast off so I can start bearing weight on the thing. It's going to be a long crutch getting in to the Jets home games.

I am still taking a 35+ wood bat team to Philly ( W. Chester) but won't be playing. Here are the particulars:
--October 11th & 12th (13th is Columbus Day Monday)
--3 games Saturday, playoffs are Sunday
--$50/guy x 14 guys = $700. Tourney is $500, so that leaves enough to keep coolers full for during/after the games and maybe even a couple of rounds Saturday night.
--I have 4 Junior Suites reserved at the Holiday Inn. Each suite has 2 rooms with a Queen bed in each; fridge and a nuke. $126/night, which is about $70/room/night w/tax
--I have two waivers for 32+ players, but you wouldn't be able to pitch.

Thanks again,
Tommy Smith #16 Cutters/White Sox

Tommy, that's great news for you! By the way, was the intern good looking? Interested in having a guy from Maine playing for your team in Philly? Let me know. -Lenny

Whether you bare weight or bear the weight, it's not a pretty picture, but it's good to see you're in good spirits...

Good Luck in Philly

Do you have any details on the PR tourney for Jan 09...

Gino, mi amigo, que cosa fai? (mixed a little Italian in there on ya)

Puerto Rico---
Thursday February 12th - 1 game
Friday February 13th - 2 games
Saturday February 14th - 2 games
Sunday February 15th - playoffs and championships

Tournament gets $185 per player regardless of how many we carry. I'll collect $200 each which will pay for a couple of coolers and stocking them for a while. Five games guaranteed, then playoffs. Have heard about "pickup" games happening unannounced.

Each team gets two new bats from reps in attendance, plus some other freebies.

I checked sample airfares tonight, American is $261 from NYC or $350 from here.

I checked condos and there are a lot to choose from in the $400 range for each couple/room for the week. That includes the cleaning fee and tax. We would probably be booking the condo(s) Tuesday - Tuesday. You can fly back whenever you want, but you get a big discount when you book 7 nights. e.g. - $260/night or $1,400 for 7 nights. Tuesdays are typically the cheapest day of the week to fly as well - we can get this ironed out and there will probably be a couple of condos so we can tailor to taste.

Some of you may or may not have grasped that the schedule calls for two games on Valentine's Day. I plan on getting her a good massage, followed by a nice meal that night after the games. If we're not invited to the Sunday dance, we'll make due Saturday night.

"Center fielder Matt Kemp could be the key to the Dodgers' lineup. He has all the makings of a big-time hitter, but has yet to put it all together. Kemp is as likely to belt three home runs in a game as he is to pick up a Golden Sombrero."

Tommy , I waited to see a reference in the press or something, just saw this today. I feel like one of those German spies during world war II posing as an American GI, but caught not knowing who won the last series and who got MVP ...or what a Golden Sombrero was! i stand , welled...machine gunned in shame. BTW good luck in puerto Rico. hope you or any yanks don't find yourself wearing the sombrero there.
