I'll let the managers weigh-in here, but the Marlins swept the Hornets Sunday to win the 46 crown once again. And thankfully, this season is over. Not much fun playing in the cold under the lights when your eyes are as old as ours.
But more importantly, our thoughts and prayers are with Hornets' ace Bobby Bolt who had a mass on his liver removed last week. He's probably gonna' kill me for posting this, but he went under the knife last Tuesday to remove an egg-sized mass from his liver. He and his wife Kim and children are awaiting the results of the biopsy to see if it was benign or malignant.
For those of you who don't know him, Bobby is one of the classiest and best ballplayers in the league. After every game, he can be found on the field with his two young boys and wife in wait. That pretty much tells it all about who he is.
We remain positive that he will recover fully and hopefully be back on the field in 2009 - watching him pitch masterful games as he always does, then playing catch with his kids.
I was shocked to see your post about Bob. I hope everything turns out Ok for him and it amounts to no more than a scare for him and his family. Last time I saw him he was in fine form pitching an absolute gem for your Labor Day team in Voorheesville. An all-around great guy on and off the field.
i'll say some prayers for him and his family. hope everything will be okay. please post up-to-date info to let us all know how he and his family is doing. god bless you bolt family.
