Jekyll and Hyde performances by the Albany Marlins leave the team 1-1.

The Albany Marlins played their worst game ever losing game one 13-4, but followed with one of their best in a 8-2 win over a local Tampa Bay team with one addition (Joe Careccia). This leaves the Marlins with a big task . . . win vs. the Savannah Triad in game three Saturday morning and win your way into the playoffs. After game one, in which the Marlins booted the ball around to the tune of nine or ten errors, the Marlins needed a great pitching and defense performance in game two. They turned to Ron Massaroni for the pitching, and he was outstanding!!! Ron gave up just two hits over eight innings and struck out six. This was one of the best clutch pitching performances that I have ever been around. The offense was led by Mike Girard, Ron Lochner, Kevin Jackson, and Jon Martin with two hits apiece. In the clutch, the Marlins came up with a huge win. Had the Tampa team defeated the Marlins, the Marlins would have been eliminated from playoff contention. This performance sets up a showdown Saturday morning between a Triad team from Maryland and the Marlins that puts the winner into the playoffs. The Marlins try to balance winning the game with saving enough pitching to get them by the semi-finals and into the championship game on Sunday. The game should be an instant classic. Can't wait to get it started!
