2 website questions

i like new website a lot - it's sharp, easy to read, i'm glad it's here - but i'm a little puzzled about two things.

so, a little help?

first, when i google "cdmsbl" on my computer and click on the possibilities that pop up, i always get the old black/silver/white website. can't seem to find the new one.

but when i type in "www.cdmsbl.com" i get the new website. why does that happen? shouldn't the old website have disappeared into internet ether by now? (i ask partly because i'm often recruiting for the league and i tell people to google "cdmsbl" - and i'd prefer they see the new website.)

second - this is a small thing but i'll throw it out - i'm guessing that the bulletin board is one of the most frequently used buttons on the site, yet it's 18th on the list. would it make more sense to move it near the top so that once players and visitors pop into the site they can hit it fairly quickly?

that's all. again, quentin and others who created the site, really nice work.

Mike,

Question 1's answer is that the old site used to be linked to cdmsbl but it was changed to the new site. With time it will no longer come up under google searches. Real easy solution dont have guys google cdmsbl............have them type in www.cdmsbl.com.

Question 2 is a real simple answer as well. I could change it to the top but then will guys still read the different things that are on the site?

I posted something a week and a half ago about some of the issues that the board would be discussing hoping we would get some league members sending me emails about how they feel about these issues and I have heard NOTHING. One of the reasons I put this on the site is for the league members to offer their opinions on how they feel about topics that could affect them in this league. Then I would present them to the board expressing what the league feels about certain issues.

Let me know if this helps you!

Q and the whole group working hard on our new sites - THANKS!

A fantastic job that, if we do our jobs as managers and members, will be a great leap forward.

Thank you again!

quentin -

thanks for answering my questions and for moving the bulletin board button up the list. i hope others like it.

this is the first i've checked the website since i last wrote and i found it really easy to navigate when all i had to do was open the site and - bada-bing! - hit the bulletin board button and i'm here. instead of scrolling down to get here.

i know i'm talking saving seconds here, but i'm also talking convenience. our website is one of our public faces - over time, maybe the most important - it serves as advertising for us - and the list on the left is a miniature picture of who we are.

so, for people who want to do the quick communication of the bulletin board - to get in, find out what's new and get out - they can now do that in a flash.

others, who are looking for specific information about parts of the league, can use other buttons to open on their interests. since they're arranged pretty logically, that's not too hard to do.

and finally, those who have more time on their hands can mosey up and down the list, read as they please and develop a broader picture of who we are.

the great thing about the website is that if players and visitors find it a convenient, informative and logical experience, they'll come back - which is a way of helping to keep players in touch with one another, gluing us together, and it's a way of telling potential players and visitors that we are, among other things, an accessible organization.

whew! that's more than i intended to say. more narrowly, i think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head here, quentin - nice job. and thanks again.

I had been all over the site for weeks, going to it 3, 4 times a day. I hadn't gone for a few days until today, and I looked, scrolled down to my comfort zone where I always access the bulletin board, and IT WAS GONE!
I started to turn red, I figured it was no longer on the site! That couldn't be - I was like a junkie who couldn't get his bulletin board fix, I started to panic.

Luckily I took a moment to throw down some Nicorette gum, start chewing and take a few deep breaths. I went back SLOWLY to the list on the left and after going down the list 4 or 5 times I finally found the new link. Whew! That was a close one!

I have started to adapt to the new spot near the top. I think I will eventually recover and be OK...
