Families of our league are once again grieving. Jeff Kruzinski's step-son and April Koops' son, Kyle A. Gagnon (only 17 years old) died suddenly at Albany Medical 3/21/2009. I spoke to Jeff and so far, MRSA is the initial cause. Please keep them in your thoughts through this time.
From the Gazette: "Kyle A. Gagnon, 17, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009, at Albany Medical Center Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Kyle was born on October 29, 1991 in Niskayuna. "KG" was a junior at Mohonasen High School where he played varsity basketball and JV baseball and JV football. He enjoyed going to the beach, playing pool and loved being around his family and friends, but most importantly his mother. Kyle is survived by his loving mother, April L. Koops; his stepdad, Jeff Kruzinski; his maternal grandparents, Ed and Sue Koops; his aunts and uncles, Kim and Tim Ciccone, and Ed and Mindy Koops; his great-grandmother, Virginia DuMond; his cousins, Amanda, Amy and Nick Ciccone, and Kaylie Koops; and his best friends, Ozias Murphy and Jeffrey Kruzinski. Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. on Friday at New Comer-Cannon Funeral Home, 343 New Karner Rd., Colonie (Rt. 155-south of Central Ave.). Interment will follow in Memory's Garden in Colonie. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Jeff, my condolences to you, April and friends and family. I refereed Mohon basketball and baseball this year, and while I didn't know Kyle, the kids and coaches were all great.
I'm sure Kyle played a positive role on all his friends and family and his legacy will live beyond your years.
