The father son game got rained out Sunday, Shaskys Marlin game got rained out Friday, and the Albany Shaskys vs. Harlem Shaskys annual grudge match at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown Saturday got rained out. Thank god we finally got to play baseball at Bob Moore Field on Monday night. The Albany Shaskys played the division champions, the Cubs, to a 9-9 tie. It was a perfect night for baseball and would have went into extra innings if it wasn't for the Marlins Orioles game scheduled immediately after our game to be played under the lights. It's been a great year for the Shaskys's throw together team to actually hang tough with some of the best baseball teams that the capital district has to offer. A great league with so many talented and cool guys that the Shaskys are always proud to be a part of. I hung around to watch the Marlins Orioles play for a few innings and I gotta tell you, I can see how these guys go down to Florida and do damage every year. There are some great baseball players out there. Once again, thanks to all the players on both teams and it's great that we can get to play baseball a few times in the summer. It really is something we look forward to all year, and the summer seems to go so fast. Thanks to the umps and the grounds crew, they really do a good job in preparing the field and calling the plays.
Mike Eppy Eplite, I can't thank you enough for letting me play on the championship Yankee team in my rookie year on the CDMSBL. You were right up front with me, and you told me these dudes are no joke and it takes years just to get in the groove. I'm 48 now, and can't wait till I'm 50 to be able to go to Florida with you guys. By the way, happy birthday May 3, which is my daughter's birthday that we spent at Madison Square Garden on Pete Seeger's 90th birthday, a show that featured John Mellencamp, Bruce Springsteen, Joan Baez, Rage Against the Machine, Kris Kristofferson, Tim Robbins and his son, and many many other legends that paid tribute to Pete and the Clearwater Foundation. It was a legendary night in New York City. Every time I step into the batter's box, I hear Big Steve telling me to stay back, don't lunge, and yesterday vs. the Cubs I got a hit and scored a run in a 9-9 tie with the division champs. I could have never even begin to step on the field if it wasn't for the 2008 Yankee team taking my rookie ass under their wing and literally teaching me how to play baseball. I've practiced all winter long with Mike Hart every other week at All Stars Academy with dozens of CDMSBL members, which included hall of famers and veteran players alike. Once again, I wear the Yankees shirt you gave me at all my comedy shows since 2008. It's been good luck for me, and I can't wait to get back on the field with you guys soon. In the meantime, I have an MRI scheduled for 8:45 AM tomorrow morning for a shoulder injury that happened during a game in Cooperstown vs. the Braves on May 17. Hopefully, I won't need surgery, but if I do, it'll be healed by the time I buy my tickets to Florida with you guys. Thanks again for everything. The Shaskys are getting on the map this year and earning respect from the premiere players in our league. Seeya soon.
Bro, I know that you work just as hard, or harder than most of the players in the league to improve your skills and I commend you on that. Most guys don't know what you actually work on, day in and day out, and the expense you have put out to be the best player you can be. When you came to the Yankees, I guess you could say that you really needed the work, and don't take that in a negative way. In addition, you were QUITE helpful to me, and it has always been appreciated big guy, don't forget that. As you have mentioned on previous posts, many players have given you tidbits in all aspects of the game, and that goes to show the good dudes in our CDSMBL. You also give a " Free Spirited" summation on game reports, which I know many guys get a kick out of. Hey, maybe YOU could broadcast an actual live game/ games on one of the Sunday schedules. You could do it from either the Satellite or New Scotland fields. Maybe for the playoffs or something, just a thought. Maybe some radio station, and maybe could raise $$$$ for a needy organization. Have some food, bevearges, and maybe get a sports celebrity to show, which I could probably help you with. Okay bro, keep up that tenacious spirit of your's. Peace
