I would like to send a special thanks out to both the 25 division Rockies and the 30 and older Dodgers from the Roy Hobbs league for a great game played last night at SUNY.
I would also like to send a special thanks to Todd Hunszinger and Fred Fitch for a great job umpiring the game. Both teams agreed this was probably one of the better umpiring jobs hands down.
It was the battle of youth versus the battle of experience with the Dodgers winning 10 to 3 over the Rockies.
The Rockies plated 2 runs in the 1st when Mickey Novak singles on the 1st pitch to right field but was later out on a FC to 2nd. Carlos (Candy) Maldanado reached on a FC then stole 2nd and scored on a single to left from Justin Wolfer. Wolfer then stole 2nd base and scored on a single by Bobby Krogh. The Dodgers did not score till the 3rd with 1 run and then in the 4th (3), 5th (2), The Rockies got 1 back in the 5th making the score 6 to 3. In the 6th the Dodgers struck again with 1 and then 3 more in the 7th making the score 10 to 3.
Some notable performances for the Dodgers Adam LaBarre and Jerry Faiola pitched outstanding for the Dodgers. Mark Sylvia, Jerry Faiola and Quentin Jensen contributed to the Dodgers success with 3 hits a piece.
Bobby Krogh, Matt Milligi and Mickey Novak pitched great for the Rockies.
I would also like to thank guys who showed up at SUNY at 2 pm with me to get rid of the 3 puddles on the left side of the infield as well as the puddle on the mound and the 3 puddles at home plate. Without your rakes and man power this game would not have been played. Thank you to Bobby Higgins, Rob Adams, and Bobby Krogh.
We look forward to doing this again as alot of the Roy Hobbs guys are interested in playing in the CDMSBL next year.
