In a see-saw affair last night at the Bob, the Humminbirds scored 3 times in the 7th to squeeze out a hard fought 7-5 victory over the Cubs. Game 3 is Sat. at 10:00 in Kingston.
Billy Earl went the distance for the Birds, as did Bobby Poulan for the Cubs. Both pitchers did well, despite dealing with an umpire who's strike zone was tighter than two coats of paint.
Joe Fitgerald had a huge two out, two run single in the 6th inning for the Cubs to give the champs a 5-4 lead.
For the Birds in the 7th, the big blow was a bases clearing double by Mike Ferraro.
This is the 2nd year in a row that these two teams will play a decisive game 3 in the quarterfinals. Good luck to both.
