Big win for the A's last night - They rode the arm and bat of Herb Cepeda to this win. Herb pitched his second complete game victory of the series, and also added a huge, two out, two run double to put the A's ahead to stay, late in the game.
Dave Vanwormer made the defensive play of the game when he gunned down Pete LaFlamme at the plate. Pete tried to score from first on a booming double into the right field corner off the bat of Matt Kelly. Dave took the relay throw in short right field, turned, and fired a strike to Ray at the plate for the third out. Had Pete scored, the Thunder would have been up 4-2, with momentum on our side.
Great effort by both teams, and especially Thunder pitcher Teddy Martin, who basically threw on one leg, and held the A's to just a few hits.
Thanks to my Thunder teamates for a great season. Great bunch of guys that I joined this year!!
Congrats to the Thunder for a remarkable season as they roll through the regular season only losing a single game. A tremendous transformation for the Thunder spearheaded by Jonny Martin as he brought a winning attitude and some much needed pitching help to the team (along with fellow standouts Teddy Martin and Ronnie Massaroni). Along with his contributions at the plate and on the mound it seems like a no-brainer to me...............Jon Martin for MVP!

Thanks for the kind words! With the two home runs being enough to tie for the lead in that category, it will be the first triple crown that I have won since 1993!!!! I was beginning to think that I was getting too old.
