corrections/additions to peppers-blue jays

i keep looking for an "edit" button here but cannot find one. maybe one can be created? that'll allow fogies, young and old, like me to make corrections an hour or so after we send stuff and then see, on second reading, uh-oh.... (i tried the quote button but all it does is put your note in italics. fancy, but not very useful.)

my previous note was long enough, but three quick changes here:

1. joe sarubbi and greg hoin had fine nights, but they went 2-for-3 not 3-for-3.

2. it wasn't funny that roger pulled a groin muscle; it was funny that he sought safe haven in right field and suddenly found three fly balls heading his way;

3. cba's a.d. jim smith told me last year that the field does NOT need tarps on the mound or at home plate after the game. if that changes, i'll let you know, but for now raking and tamping is sufficient.

4. re. the field: i was really impressed with the blue jays thursday night. they lost - and have been enduring a hard skid lately (that'll change), and yet, knew, because they were the home team, they would be repairing the field. at least six or seven guys pitched in - i'm sorry i don't recall all their names, there was the battery of joe (?) and john (?), rich lofretta, others - and they did a fine job. after another loss it would be understandable if they just packed up their bags and went home. they didn't. the way they worked - doing a good job, being pleasant, heads high - was really classy, and made me feel very good about being in the same league with them.
