For those of you who didn't attend last night's banquet, it was like a private party with all your friends without the host having to cook!
Awards aside, it was a great time seeing all the boys of summer and realizing two things: We're still around to play; and the corner has definitely turned toward the start of another MSBL season.
If we can somewhat get past the idea that it's strictly an awards banquet, perhaps we can get the hall filled some year and just enjoy the comraderie of our fraternity. After all, we all belong to something much bigger than our individual teams. The awards are just a small part of who we are.
Having Don Hudson here is something he'll always remember. He only wished we had the banquet when he played here. He expresses his gratitude and appreciation to the Hornets and all of his past teammates for inviting him. He was totally shocked to see his jersey in a frame.
Unfortunately, I also felt a bit rushed. I wanted to impart the story behind Tony's 300 game. When Reel mentioned putting baseball in perspective, it makes Tony's feat all the more meaningful. And with Jim Whitford in attendance as part of the champion Hornets roster, I know Tony is right that Bobby was looking down last night as well.
So, thanx to John Reel for creating this event and thanx, too, to his wife Diane for allowing us to share him with her over the years. (Though she's probably happy to get ride of him from time-to-time).
Thanks to all who attended. I thought the night was great and I wish alot more of the younger divisions could have attended. I like to send a special thanks to john and diane reel for their help creating this event. To Jon Martin for a great job being the MC. To Mike Girard for taking those plaques off the table so I did not have to take them home with me (I think he won like 20 awards...........he was at the podium more then anyone), also, jon martin wanted me to thank tom maney for not allowing randy to tell a story.
I want to say thank you to Jim McQuade for his wonderful words about me. My wife was touched by the kind words.
Thanks

Well said fella's. the banquet was alot of fun and it's always good to see everyone on a friendly basis before the season starts.Kudo's to everyone involved with making this annual event happen. Special thanks to John Reel and his lovely wife Diane, who are never without smiles on their faces, and are always willing to go the extra step to make this gathering easy for the rest of us to just show up and have fun. I also believe with Quentin as our leader, and a committed board of director's helping out with the heavy lifting, this league will continue to move forward in a positive manner. Hey Baseball!!
