The Cubs took a 6 -1 lead into the bottom of the third, where the A's used 4 singles, a walk, and 2 Cub's errors to tie the game at 6. The Cubs regained the lead in the 4th inning, with an unearned run, then exploded for 10 runs in the 5th to take control of the game. Phil Gadomski went the distance for the Cubs, scattering nine hits and 1 walk, while striking out 4. Mash gets his second win in as many games. Lochner (2-3; 2B, HR, 5 RBI's), Mike Girard (2-3; HR, 3 RBI's), and Andy Hoyle (double 2 RBI's) led the offense for the Cubs. Kevin Golden (2-3, 2 runs) and Dave Zebrowski (2-3, double) led the attack for the A's.
