Chris Abrams allowed just 3 hits and 1 unearned run over 4 innings as the WhizKids defeated the Cougars Monday night. Mike Lannon, in his WhizKids debut, hit a go ahead 2-run double in the 3rd, and the Whiz never looked back as they added 3 runs in the 4th, and 5 in the 5th. Joining Lannon (3-4, 2 runs, 4 RBI), with multiple hits were Don Dennis, Dave Palmer, Billy Smith, Anthony Torre, Abrams (3-4, 2 runs, 3 RBI), and John Healey. Jim Wing (3-3) had given the Cougars an early 1-0 lead, knocking in Dave Phelps, who walked. Next game for the Whiz is on May 28th, as they take on last year's undefeated champions, the Yankees. Jim Porter-Manager-WhizKids
Seriously, the Kids haven't been this dangerous since way back in 2006 Y.D. (Year of Darrell). Standing 6'11" tall with an irrepressibly effervescent wit, and now having put together an absolutely dangerous group of players, Jim Porter finally "has it all."
I mean these guys pounded the white off the ball on Monday night! When the Whizzers meet the Damn Yankees, managers Porter and VanGelder had better bring along at least a half-dozen balls, or they may well end up playing with handfulls of yarn.
Thanks to the mighty Whiz Kids and good luck on the rest of the season...I think.
