Canes 9 Cyclones 6

Tuesday May 18, 2009: Amsterdam, NY (Shuttleworth Park)

The Canes would open there 2010 season with a wet match up against the Bonded Bombers (formerly the Scotia Cyclones). The Canes would send Ace and reigning co-Cy Young Nate Novak to the hill the battle Perone of the Bombers. The Canes would strike first in the first when BJ Roberts would draw a one out walk and advance to third on a Brian Hoffman single to right field. Novak would help himself before even touching the hill with an RBI single to give the Canes the early 1-0 lead. The Canes would strike again in the second when Eric Solomon would hit a 1 out single and newly married Jason McGeary I mean Cornell would walk to put runners at first and second. Tom O'brien would come up and double off the wall scoring Solomon but Cornell would get throw out trying to take third. Panza would then walk to put runners at 1st and 2nd for BJ Roberts. Roberts would drop a 3 run bomb to left center giving the Canes an early 5-0 lead. Novak would roll through the first 3 innings only making way to one hit and striking out 7. With a 5-0 lead and the raining coming down it was looking like it may be a 5 inning game, but the rain slowed up and so did Novak. The Cyclones would come all the way back and tie the game at 5 in the 4th when Novak would have some control issues. Novak would walk 5 and give way to a Joe Curcio single which would tie the game at 5. After one more batter skipper Mark LeMorta would come out and take Novak out and hand the ball to Cornell. Cornell would throw one pitch to close the inning. The Canes would take the lead back in the 5th when Novak would rip a single to right and score on new comer to the Canes Kyle Babies double. The Cyclones would strike right back in the 5th, after a single and a fielding error the Cyclones would have runners at 2nd and 3rd. With 2 out Dan Ciarmello would single to left driving in both runs and giving the Cyclones there first lead of the game 7-6. The lead would last long, in the top of the 6th RJ Laurin would come up with 1 out and hit a bomb over the left field fence to tie the game at 6. Panza and Roberts would draw back to back walks, and with 2 out Panza would score on an error and Roberts on a wild pitch giving the canes a 9-6 lead and some insurance purchased from Mark LeMorta @ The Heritage Group. Cornell would shut the Cyclones down the rest of the game and get the first W of the season for the Canes.

Player of the Game: BJ Roberts (1-2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB)

WP: Cornell (3 1/3, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 1 HBP)

Please only post baseball material that pertains to the league, if you'd like to work on your poetry I'm sure you can be added to the business referrals page and open a poetry gallery.

The fact that you could spell there two other ways and still pick the wrong one more than once could be a sign that would suggest editing afterwards...

But all in good fun...cause I don't speak English that good anyways...
