This 45+ Division game actually was not a laugher, not to mention it was not cut short by the 12-run rule, either. A 6-run top of the 7th put the game out of reach for the Cyclones, who entered the 4th inning with a 3-1 lead behind the tough pitching by veteran Artie Gianakos.
The Giants took a 4-3 lead in the 4th, but didn't get some breathing room till the 5th when Tony Nardacci emptied the bases with a one-hop double off the fence in left-center to make it 7-3. He scored on a doulbe by Mike Lannon to cap the inning.
The Giants got home runs from Jack Riley in the 6th and Jim Whitford in the 7th - his second of the year - to finally put away the Cyclones, who were coming off the franchise's first win last week against a very tough Yankees team.
Read Shepherd has put together a very competitive team that will only continue to get better as they get experience.
The Cyclones were led by Mitchell, who had two hits. Steve Lounello had three hits to lead the Giants 15-hit attack.
No games next week in the 45+ Division. The Giants next face the defending regular-season champs, Blue Thunder at 11:45 a.m. Sunday June 6 at New Scotland.
