We wanted to write to all of you to remind you that the Downeast Classic will be here soon. For those who are planning on coming to Maine for the July 4th weekend to play ball, please ensure that you reserve your spot in the Tournament by filling out the entry form for the tournament from the Southern Maine Men's Baseball League's website: www.smmbl.com --- the form is listed under the Downeast Classic tab --- and send it to the address listed on the form by June 15th.
We did make a few changes on the entry form this year:
(1) all entry form must be submitted with the required deposit----NO EXCEPTIONS
(2) you must also include your t-shirt sizes by indicating the number of each that is required for your team----each player will receive ONE t-shirt
There will be a limited number of extra t-shirts available for purchase when teams check in. We will also be doing team check-in on Saturday morning (7am-10am with location TBD). All team managers will be required at that time to pay their remaining balance in FULL (no exceptions), receive game balls, t-shirts, game schedules and playing rules (tournament playing rules are also available on the league's website---under the Downeast Classic tab).
One last thing, for anyone that is looking to book lodging for the weekend, we have a block of rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott in South Portland near the Maine Mall. The special rate of $109 will expire on June 15th and any rooms from the block not booked will be released.
