Chris Abrams pitched 3-hit ball over 4 innings, and the WhizKids gave him all the support he would need in a 6-run 1st as they defeated the Hawks 13-0. Abrams struck out 5 with 1 walk as he improved to 2-0. He also led the 14-hit offense by going 3-3 with 2 doubles and 1 RBI. All of this coming after being struck on the arm in the 1st inning on a single by leadoff hitter Read Shepherd. For the WhizKids, multi-hit games were also turned in by John Healey, Dennis Pierce, Joe Torre, and Ed Draves. Bill Smith led the team with 3 RBI. Ageless Artie Gianakis (at least that's how it's spelled on the team roster!) pitched 4 solid innings of relief for the Hawks, who got 2 hits from Harold Jenkins. The 2 teams conclude their home and home series Monday night. Jim Porter-Manager-WhizKids 55+ Division
