It was another georgous night at New Scotland as two very familiar teams met. These teams have been doing battle for years. Five Nationals helped the Cubs win a championship two years ago until they decided to come up from the 25's this year.
I don't have the stats with me, but a few notes. Joe Fitzgerald pitched another complete game on 3 days rest only surrending 2 runs. The big inning was in the 3rd (I think) when the Cubbies behind Jon Martin got two quick outs before the Nationals put together a two out rally and scored 3. Fitzgerald made one mistake all night and it was to Andy Hoyle who drilled a solo homerun to left center. Hoyle also had a double.
The Nationals are now in sole possession of first place. It was a great night and a good game was played my two great teams.
Almost as important - There was a nice cooler session after the game!
My hat goes off to Darrell Duncan because this New Scotland field was in tremendous shape as usual. This is one of the best fields in the area and should be used more.
