On a beautiful evening at NS the Sox got their bats working and their legs going. The Sox scored 14 runs on 14 hits. The offense was led by Tarantino scoring 3 runs, Ramos with 3 rbi, Caputo 3 runs, Fred Phillips 3 hits and 2 rbi, and Reuter 2 hits. Aiello, celebrating his birhtday, more on this later, had a 1-1-1-1 night with 2BB. Jim LaTorre picked up the win allowing only 3 hits and striking out 5. He pitched the first 3 innings, rested while Solomon pitched 1 inning, and returned for the 5th and 6th innings. The Cyclones offense was led by Malone with 2 hits, Tom Smith and Dave Plew with 1 hit each. Shepherd and Quinn scored for the Cyclones. When asked how old he was Mike said "44 again". Mike feels that at this age we should subtract not add years. My question is "Are the Black Sox in compliance with the CDMSBL age requirement if all our players take this same logic about birthday's?" Finally, Sue Phillips stepped to the plate in the fourth inning and worked the count for a walk. She and Fred were celebrating their wedding anniversary last night and she said she could not have received a better present than getting in the batter's box. Fred, for future anniversary maybe you can take Sue to a batting cage instead of out to dinner, that is, if she is not playing in the league in the future. But I think that is years away, so just bring her to the ballpark. Congratulations to Mike and Fred and Sue.
After the game, friends led us to the back of their jeep in the NS lot. They had set up a beautiful array of flowers, candles, wines on ice, and gifts. Then we went to dinner.
I am still enjoying that game. The Black Sox are a fine team. ~Susan
