Blue Jays earn important victory!

The Blue Jays' bats came alive and we battled our way to a 9 - 4 victory over the Shaskys. Frank Tarantino, who was inserted into the leadoff role, responded with three hits, a BB, two stolen bases and two runs scored. Russ McBride, Ralph Caputo, Fred Phillips, Joe Careccia and Al Luciano each contributed two hits in the attack. The Jays scored 2 in the first, 1 in the 2nd and 4 in the 3rd to open a commanding lead.

Rick Loffredo earned his second victory on the season by pitching five tough innings. Jerry McMeel closed it for the Blue Jays. The pitching was backed by a strong defensive effort that included three unusual double plays. An F8 - 4 DP ended the Shaskys' 1st inning, a 3 - 2 - 4 ended the second and an L6 - 5 took the starch out of a bases loaded, no out rally in the 3rd.

Alston led the Shaskys line-up with three hits while Koster and Cooney each had two hits.

It was a pleasure to play at Rogowicz field which is great condition. And even better to see Mike Hart at the game.

i never thought i'd be so happy to see a bunch of aging blue jays, but it turns out,
i was. imagine that.

Mike

Were you happy to see us...or just the fact that we are aging!?

both, as it turns out, don.

just glad to see you old birds, and see, too, that you're still out there.

as for aging:

the great thing about baseball is that every player always has the possibility to send others home laughing. and it seems the longer we play, the more that possibility presents itself.

think of it as baseball's sly parting gift.
