It looked like it might be an easy win. Going into the bottom of sixth the Sox held a 10-1 lead. The Senators scored 2 in their half of the sixth and shut the Sox down in the top of the seventh. Some might call the bottom of the seventh fun and exciting. I disagree. To me it was terrifying. The first 2 Senators reached base than we got a pop out for the first out. This was followed by an error and then 4 more hits making the score 10-8. With 2 on and 1 out the next batter walked loading the bags. A shot off the bat into the second baseman's glove and flipping to the shortstop for the double kill and the Sox escape with a win. When the Senator's bats are connecting watch out all. The story for the Sox was Hoin's pitching, going 5 innings allowing 1 run and only 3 hits. His assortment of pitches kept the Senator's batters off balance throughout the first five. Musella, from behind the dish, threw out one baserunner and picked another off at second base. Rich Kreig led the Sox offense with 2 hits, including a double and 3 rbi. Caputo chipped in with 2 hits and a rbi, and Ramos had a double and 2 rbi. Van Wormer's men were led by Burns with 3 hits, and Class, Warner and Schillinger all with 2 hits. See you in a couple of weeks fellers.
