i dont know who danny thompson is, but his messages are crude and they unnecessarily impugn one or more players and the league. leaving his words on the bulletin board may not only offend most readers but their presence can suggest that in some measure cdmsbl condones his mindless and unfunny homophobic rants.
i know the league doesn't. i've been a member of cdmsbl since 1998, and i've never seen us approve of publishing public insults of anybody. we have a proud history of posting civil and high-minded comments about each other. in fact, i have read statements from our league and web officers that crude and abusive comments were unacceptable and would be quashed.
rightfully so.
cdmsbl is a private organization. its website is its own publication. as such, it has the right to edit or erase comments on that website that it feels are offensive, that are not in keeping with its public image or its standards.
if thompson is trying for dugout humor, he should keep it there. cdmsbl's website is not his plaything. if he learns to post thoughtful and respectful messages, then fine, write on. but if he persists in trying to publish his coarse scribblings, then i suggest our website officials deny him access to the bulletin board.
the first amendment is not a blanket freedom. the owners of newspapers and websites can and do edit comments, or refuse to publish them, if they offend readers or fail to meet common standards of fact or taste.
if thompson wants to write empty-headed yawps, let him set up his own website, where, my guess is, he'll have a constant readership of about three: himself and, soon enough, a couple of libel lawyers.

I am looking up his email on our server to find out who it really is. I have an idea who it is since some of the messages were directed towards Lex.
I apologize to everyone for these nasty posts. It will be taken care today. As soon as the web site server people email me back I will know who this person is and they wont be able to hide.
I actually would like to see him keep posting as long as he has the sack to put his real name to it. He has the right to free speech as he claims he does, but he also has the "right" to be held accountable for what he says.
this guy is a real "jerk"...he is right as far as "free speech" but what is the point in his messages? and why not be a "man" and put his name on it? If he has something to say, fine, just put a signature with it!
I post this reluctantly .BUT.....outsiders view this board,The postings here are a reflection of our league and the players. Posting negative responses, comments and name calling, puts you all down to his level. I am sorry and embarrassed.

This garbage will all be deleted shortly ........ we have talked at board meetings about monitoring this site and the general consensus was not to go too crazy as there have been few, if any problems.... and we all felt a little leeway and free speech on here is fine as long as there are no truly ignorant tirades.
Since there haven't been any ignorant tirades like this until now the process of deleting this stuff requires Q to get info from someone on vacation which is why the posts still show up.
And ... any posts here fall under the code of conduct agreement we all sign prior to playing so Mike's point about Danny playing his last game in the league (if he even plays?) may be very accurate.

He plays. Though if he signed that code of conduct form he has truly played his last game.
