Quentin has asked that I send out a message that says he will need some help today in preparing the fields at Clifton Commons for tonight's games. The weather should comply most of the day but fields will need some work if they're going to be in as great a shape as they were last night.
Any help would be appreciated. Please call Q's cell if you can offer any help.
I just came back from taking care of the wood pole field. All of the standing water and mud was removed. I turned the dirt over in those areas that were especially soupy, so that they would have time to dry out. All that field will need now is some finish raking and chalking the lines, just before game time. I would appreciate someone from the Orioles pitching in tonight, as the Cubs and the 18+ guys have done all the work so far.
The steel pole field has some areas that need work ASAP. The main area of concern is a rather large and deep puddle between 1st and 2nd. If someone gets there soon and digs a hole in the middle of the puddle and bails out the water; the spot will have a chance to dry out before game time. If that doesn't happen soon, there won't be time for it to dry. There is also considerable standing water between the first baseline and the dugout. You will need to dig a trough to run the puddles over to near the fence. Then use the squeegie to push it through the fence and out of the field of play. After you remove the water, turn the dirt over, so that it can start to dry. There are only a couple of other areas that need attention, and a simple raking should do the trick in those areas if done soon enough. Don't wait until just before game time. That won't work! Good luck gentlemen. I will see you at the Commons later this afternoon.
