I wanted to throw out an opportunity to let everyone know about a fall league that played 10 games after our season got done. They play their games at Shuttleworth Park in Amsterdam where the Mohawks play. A great field, games are at 6 and at 8 10 game season then playoffs, so you all know next year I think that we should have a team represent Capital district baseball, I played on a team and saw a few guys who also play in the league on other teams, But i feel if we truly put a team together we would be stellar with the talent that we can generate from our league. Next Sept is a little ways off but if guys have interests contact me Lherrlet@hotmail.com and we can have fun playing more baseball and no plane ticket needed, that isnt too far away. There was no age restriction this year so I did see some Highschool senior pitchers from area schools which made it interesting, but still was very competitive. Just food for thought for guys who dont want to hang up the cleets so early next year next year they may add a age limitation of at least 25 years old but still need to be discussed thanks Lex
really glad you told us about this, lex. hope they do it next year.
well, since the next baseball for most of us isn't until late april, i thought i'd leave us with two quotes from the "ol' perfesser," casey stengel, just to help us make it through the winter.
"Two hundred million Americans, and there ain't two good catchers among 'em. "
"Sure I played, did you think I was born at the age of 70 sitting in a dugout trying to manage guys like you?"
"All right everyone, line up alphabetically according to your height."
"Most baseball games are lost, not won."
"The secret to managing is to keep the five guys who hate you away from the four who haven't made up their minds."
"If we're going to win the pennant, we've got to start thinking we're not as good as we think we are."
Managing "is the art of getting credit for all the home runs somebody else hits."
i know i said two quotes, but i added some in case it snows a lot.
