Yes the league championship ended badly on Saturday.I won't get into a he said she said routine about what was said and who said what because it is so counterproductive. I am sure in hindsight that I as manager of the Orioles and the umpire could have handled things differently.
I want to apologize to the Orioles, the entire league and especially the Silver Marlins for my role in the fiasco. 10 years in the CDMSBL and my first ejection certainly came at the wrong time.
A few things need to be addressed however at the winter meetings that directly relate to the playoffs. We will tackle those then. What I needed to get off my chest about it was said in a private meeting with the league commissioner and will remain private.
The Silver Marlins are the champions and that is what we should all be talking about today. Congratulations Marlins!
Now that is the Dick Stark that I have grown to know and respect. Well done. If you are going to talk to the board about an umpire rating system, so that we get the better umpires in the playoffs, then I am behind you 100%. Include me in the discussions if you want some support. I'm tired of getting the worst possible umpires for our important games as well. If they were to be held accountable for their performance, then maybe we could get some games where the umps are never mentioned. I know that is what I am looking for in umpires come playoff time.
