hi guys:

the texans are coming and you're all invited to a game and picnic.

about 13 guys from san antonio's over-47 league arrive monday (9/19) for a week
of visiting and games, and they wouldn't mind a game against us.

so with john reel's, kevin jackson's and jim kostantakis' support, we've
been able to set one up for MONDAY, at 5:00 p.m., at NEW SCOTLAND FIELD.

i've asked members of my over-47 vets to join us - but right now, i don't
know precisely how many are coming. so if you're over-47 and would like to
play, bring a jersey and cap and spikes - no need to get all dressed up; jeans are fine - and show up. we'll play till dark and i'll get as many guys as i can in the game. if you arrive late, and there's room to play, i'll still try to get you in.

after the game, we're having a picnic and sort-of barbecue (it won't be
texas style; i'm not that accomplished yet.) that's for everyone from 28-up
and will probably last till about 8 or 8:30. if anybody can bring something
to drink, a dish to pass, some potato chips, that would be appreciated. but
if you can't, that's ok. come anyway. you'll see some good ballplayers - but
more imporantly, meet a great bunch of guys.
