The defending champion Cubs advanced to the third round with a hard fought victory over the Cardinals Saturday at the B diamond. Earlier, the Cardinals had eliminated the Mets 4-3. The ageless wonder, Jim Ansel, led the charge with a complete game mound effort, as well as ripping 3 singles, and driving in 5 runs. The Cubs broke open a close game with a 7 run sixth inning on their way to a 13-3 victory. The Cardinals were missing 3 starters, but still battled hard. Next up for the Cubs are the Yanks , Sunday at 10, at Ichabod High.
