They have not met yet on it. I am just saying that I can't see how the protest cannot be upheld. The rule is in black and white. There is nobody questioning whether the runner slid or not. So, with that stipulation, what choice does the board have??? The guy who should have been thrown out of the game accounted for 4 or 5 runs after he should have been thrown out of the game. The game will need to be replayed from the point of the collision (a 3-2 Yankees lead in the 3rd or 4th inning), with the base runner ejected from the contest. Does anyone else see any other possible outcome???
The rule is black or white. When that happened to me against the Mets I simply ran into the catcher, not hard at all, because he was coming up the 3rd base line. I scored the tying run and another Marlins scored the winning run since the ball sailed over the catcher's head to the backstop. I was called out and the other runner was sent back to 3rd.
This guy ran you over. If I was called out for simply bumping into the catcher then there's no question about it. You MUST slide.
