Victoriaville Laurier men's baseball tournament

Greetings gentlemen, My name is Joe Camire, from the Victoriaville Laurier of the Quebec City Major Senior Baseball League. I was wondering if you ever thought about participating in an adult baseball tournament in the nice province of Quebec, Canada. The Victoriaville Laurier, my local team, has created is first ever baseball tournament. The tournament will be held by the end of July (July 14th to 17th). Victoriaville is located right between Montreal and Quebec City. It's a small town, approx. 40,000 citizens. Google Maps indicates that Albany is located 5h30 away from Victoriaville. That would be great to have some teams from NY, USA, that will make our tournament an international one. The province of Quebec has around 10 23+ years old, adult leagues, which can be compare to your league. We hope to welcome 16 teams, placed in 4 pools of 4 teams. Each team will play 3 preliminary games. The first two positions of each pool will go to the quarterfinals. Preliminary games will be 5 innings, and championship round games will be 7 innings. We will use 2 fields for the tournament, they are like 2 miles away from each other. The main field, which is getting build up as we speak, will be 320' feet on the side, 350' in center field. The other field is a bit smaller, 310' on the side, 340' in the center field. We will apply MLB rules, which means 9-player batter order and you can use (or not) a DH for the pitcher only. No re-entry for the players, except in case of injury. The entry fees for the tournament is 425$ (canadian funds). The winner of the tournament will get 1,200$, and the runner-up 600$. To reserve a spot in the tournament, we ask the team to send a 225$ deposit. The balance (200$) is needed right before the first game. The deposit has to be send to the address below in order of Laurier Senior de Victoriaville. I would appreciate if you can transfer this email to your contacts. If anyone is interested, they can contact me by email, I will send any informations they need. Have a great season, I hope I will get some news from you. Thanks Joe. What is the age bracket for the tournament and are the teams permitted any waivers for "underage" players? Tommy Smith 35+ Commissioner

Hey Tommy, There is no bracket what so ever. Senior leagues in Quebec is 23+ years old, based on the year of birth (1988 and plus). So all players aged between 23 and 99 years old are eligible. As I said, this is not an all-star tournament. Original teams only, based on the team website and/or team stats. But a team can add up to 3 players from any other leagues team. But it has to be approved by the committee. I hope I answered your questions, if not, feel free to contact me by email for further informations and/or submit your deposit for a guaranteed spot in the tournament. Thanks for asking. Sounds like it may be a good time. I haven't been up there in about 30 years so wouldn't mind going. Nice easy ride up.

Anyone else interested? They say they want only intact teams, but I'm thinking we can talk them out of that if we have enough interest.

As I am in charge of teams approbation, I would allow and accept a pick-up team of 35+ players.

However, as most of our players in Quebec are under 35 (mostly 23-32 I would say), I wouldn't allow a 18+ or 25+ pick-up team. I have to be fair to the other teams who will enter the tournament witj their original team.

If you any question, feel free to email me.
