Golden Marlins outslug Cyclones 17-5.

The Golden Marlins didn't look like they had much rust, playing in their first game in 3 weeks. The Fish got superb pitching from John Latorre and Phil Gadomski, and pounded out 18 hits and 17 runs in defeating the Cyclones 17-5 on Sunday afternoon at Swift Road Park. A special thanks to Darrell Duncan and his crew for getting this field and the Satellite Field ready to play after 3 solid days of rain.
The Marlins got off to a fast start by plating 3 runs in the bottom of the first, after John Latorre had retired the Cyclones in the top of the first on 4 pitches. The Marlins would get 8 more in the bottom of the second. The Fish would record two walks and 6 straight hits after there was one on and two outs. Randy Craft had the big hit with a 3 RBI (294 ft.) double, with the bases loaded.
The Golden Marlins would light up the scoreboard for 4 more in the bottom of the third, with 3 more walks and 4 more hits.
With the score 15-0, the Cyclones would stage a rally. They would score one in the top of the 4th and 4 in the top of the fifth, to pull back to within 10, and might have had more if not for a perfect relay throw from Ron Lochner to cut down Manny Marufo at the plate, on Mike Bintz's 2 RBI double. Phil Gadomski retired the Cyclones in order in the top of the sixth, and the Goldens would plate one run in the 5th and another in the bottom of the sixth to close out the scoring.
Mike Bintz had two doubles and knocked in 3 of the Cyclones 5 runs.
Phil Gadomski continued his MVP season going 4 for 4, scoring 3 runs and driving in 3.
Ron Lochner and Mike Girard were 3 for 4 each, and Randy Craft and Mike Ferraro each had two hits for the Golden Marlins.
After the game, Tom Smith and his lovely wife provided some incredible pulled pork sandwiches, and a great time was had by all!!!
