The Reds won their 5th and 6th in a row Sunday morning, to go to 6 - 2, by sweeping the Dodgers at New Scotland. In Game 1, Rich Wander picked up the win, scattering 10 hits, over 5 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4, in the 13 - 7 win. Rich was also the standout at the plate, going 4 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Ed Class, Chuck Handford and Dave VanWormer contributed 2 hits each for the Reds. For the Dodgers, John Corrigan,Nick Kanellis and Brett Conlin had 2 hits apiece. In game 2, Joe Burns was masterfrul, giving up only a single in the 1st and 2nd innings, while going the distance for a 2 hit, 4-0 shutout win. Joe struck out 7, walked 1 and hit 1 in spinning this jewel. Offensively, Dave VanWormer had a 2 run single in the 3rd, to open the scoring and give Burns all the runs he needed. Alex Marin added 2 hits and an RBI for the Reds. For the Dodgers, Jim Kisselbergh went the distance, scattering 7 hits, striking out 3, walking 1 and hitting 1, in a very well pitched game by both sides.
