The Reds moved to 8 - 3 by beating the vets 10-8 Sunday evening at New Scotland. The Vets jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first, on hits by V. Koster and Atwell, and a booming 2 run homer to right by Dave Hartman. The Reds cut the lead to 2, with 2 in the 2nd, then took the lead with 4 in the 3rd, featuring a string of 4 hits with 2 outs, off Vets starter John Atwell. After trading runs for a couple of innings, the Reds scored 2 in the top of the 7th and releiver Joe burns, who took over for Rich Wander in the 5th, made them stand up for the 10-8 win. Ron McCarthy led the way for the Reds, with 3 hits, while Marin,Class and G. Schillinger added 2 hits apiece. Schillinger added 3 RBI in the win.
For the Vets, Dave Hartman had a HR and a single and Rick Koster added 2 hits.
Much thanks goes to the Vets and manager Brad Buchan for their sportmanship, when yours truly rolled an ankle and was unable to continue. Brad could have made us take an out but was gracious enough to let us condense the lineup.
