The Golden Marlins pounded out 13 hits and took advantage of 8 walks in 5 innings to mercy the Cougars after 5 innings Thursday night. Phil Gadomski again led the way for the Marlins going 4 for 4 with 4 RBI and 3 runs scored. Phil also pitched the first 4 innings for his 8th win without a loss, giving up just 3 unearned runs on 3 hits, and 1 walk, while striking out 4. Mike Clary also had a great night for the Fish going 2 for 4, with a double, single and 3 RBI. Mike came on to pitch a scoreless 5th inning in only his second pitching appearance in a very long time. The crafty left-hander is coming back from shoulder trouble and represents a nightmare for left-handed hitters if he is able to get back to pitching full time. Ron Lochner and Tom Maney also had two hits each for the Marlins. The Cougars leadoff hitter, Joe Kosek, went 3 for 3 on the night and represented half of his teams hits on the evening. The Golden Marlins inched closer to clinching the leagues' top seed, by moving their record to 11-1. The Fish just need to win 2 of their 4 remaining games to secure a playoff bye straight to the semi-finals. The Cougars drop to 0-14 with the loss.
