Alright, just good news to report today. In game one, Jim Konstantakis started for the Braves and was absolutely in control for the entire 9 innings, allowing only one 4th inning run, and yielding just 7 hits, 2 walks, and 1 hit batter, while striking out 4. While Jimmy was keeping the Arizona Pirates down. The offense started early and scored often. Scott Ross led off the game with a single, and stole second base. Randy Craft singled Scott over to third, and Mike Girard drove him in with a double. Dave Mitchell singled home Craft, and Doug O'Brey singled home Girard. Dean little followed with the Braves 6th consecutive Braves hit, driving home Mitchell. One out later, TJ Scorsone capped the 5 run first inning with a RBI single, and the game was never in doubt after that. Scott Ross led the Braves offense, with a 4 for 4 game, with 2 runs 1 RBI, and 4 stolen bases (what a lead-off hitter he has been for us. TJ Scorsone added 3 hits, 1 run, 2 RBIs, and a stolen base. Randy Craft and Dave Mitchell added 2 each. The final tally was Albany Braves 10 - Arizona Pirates 1
In game two today, Jerry Solomon took the ball for the Braves, and was equally as good as Jim Konstantakis was in game one. Jerry shut out the RC Diamondbacks (Arizona) through 7 innings of work, allowing just one hit, while walking 4, hitting one batter, and striking out 9! Mike Girard came on to finish the shut out, pitching the last two innings and retiring all 6 batters that he faced, striking out 3 of the 6. On the offensive side, the Braves' bats kept sizzling, providing 11 runs, on 17 hits. Dave Mitchell and Doug O'Brey led the way with 3 hits each - Mitchell driving in 2 and O'Brey driving in 4. Mike Girard added 2 hits as well. The 11-0 victory positions the Braves as the number 1 seed in their division of the Round Robin, with one game to go. This game will pit two 4-1 teams against each other with top seeding in the division as the prize for the victors. The game will be in Maryvale Stadium (Milwaukee Brewers spring training stadium). See you tomorrow with a report from that game.
