The tourney there is worth going to. We played a team from Long Island, Seatle, and Tuscon Az. Joe Fitz hurt his knee in the top of the first in Center on a sprinkler head and was done for the weekend with out ever batting, let alone losing a starting pitcher. Take away your best player and it get's a little rougher. the first game got out of hand in the 4th ining and ended up 18 to 3. the winds @ that field were gusting up to 50 miles a hour. the second game we lost 11 to 7 as the lights shut off with us having the bases loaded with one out and myself @ the plate. I had just ripped one foul down the line as the lights crashed. We were to finish this in the am if we won the 9am morning game. Unfortunately Tuscon won 14 to 7 They hit every ball to right as a team loaded with right handers. As the first game had wind, so did the last game with gusts up to 30miles a hour. Overall it was a blast. We were in Vegas, we tooka trip to the Hoover Dam, which I would recommend to anyone. The guys we picked up from the Vegas league were great teammates and are probably coming here for our Labor day tourney. We would love to go back next year, if anyone would like to put it on there agenda as we already have 4 good ball players from VEGAS that are ready to join. And for all who say it stays in Vegas , yes there were hookers out there, but we all told them no, but it was kind of funny to experience their begging. Now that that's done bring on our season. GO MET'S AND MAY THE BEST TEAM WIN

I, too, would be very interested to hear about the tournament in general. The quality of play (I'm guessing it's very tough), the organization, and so on. I'll be Frank, I've always been a little intimidated by the quality: I wouldn't go there unless I had a very seriously talented team.

I've heard that the MSBL, nationally, is sliding down to a 45-up league (from 47-up), probably to bolster the 55-up division which is where the boomer generation is headed. I think Albany could put together a competitive 45 team, most certainly. What were the age brackets in Vegas?
Lower age brackets are starting to appear in national tournaments for 2006:
The Arizona national division (top tier), the age brackets have been lowered to 25/35/45 The Florida Fall Classic WOOD BAT division 28/38/45
I spoke with Steve Sigler last week. I would not be surprised, starting with the 2007 season, that age brackets in national tournaments will be 25/35/45 for all divisions.
