Reisinger Walks off leading the Giants to the Title!

Slingerlands - The Giants rode the right arms of Mick Novak and Jimmy Johnson to a sweep of the Bombers in the 2019 CDMSBL championship series! Novak won game one tossing a 3 hit shutout and Jim Hicks provided all the offense the Black and Orange needed going 4 for 4 with Solo HomeRun in the fifth inning! Scott Steltz and Joe DeMarco added a pair of base hits each supplementing the Giants 12 hit attack. Additionally the Giants played errorless baseball led by third baseman Matt Miles who was flawless! The win was Novaks 10th win of the year as he was in command all day long.
Game two was a different affair as the Bombers scored 3 runs in the top of the fourth inning, the Giants countered with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Then it was the Jimmy Johnson show as the power pitching right-hander buckled down and allowed no further runs allowing for the late inning heroics of the Giants. Scott Steltz led off the bottom of the sixth with a walk, Mark Dabney was hit by a pitch, Doug Reisinger singled to load the bases, then the fun began as Matt Miles laid down a perfect safety squeeze single driving in a run then Warren Zeiser followed with another perfectly executed safety squeeze single tying the ball game at 3Johnson worked out of a bit of a jam in the seventh to set up some magic in the bottom of the seventh. Jim Hicks led off the seventh with a line drive single up the middle advancing to second on Steltz's groundout to the right side, the Bombers chose to walk power hitting legend Mark Dabney setting up Reisinger who drilled a game winning double off the left field wall! Hicks scored easily completing an amazing season for the 2019 CDMSBL Champions. Hicks, DeMarco, Zeiser and Dabney each had 2 hits and Reisinger had a 3 hit game completing an incredible day with the most clutch hit of the year!! Again the Giants were errorless and Johnson allowed 3 runs on 8 hits in running his record to 9-0 on the year!

The Giants had an incredible season followed by a dominant playoff run in which they outscored their opponents 44-7 led by Johnson and Novak allowing 7 Runs on 25 hits over the 6 playoff wins, Joe DeMarco hit over .600 with a homerun, a pair of doubles and 10 stolen bases, Jim Hicks hit over .500 in the playoffs with a homerun while playing a flawless shortstop. Warren Zeiser also hit a home run, Mick Novak and Scott Steltz were consistent big bats throughout the playoffs!

The Giants had a potent line up throughout the season led by Novak, DeMarco, Zeiser and Steltz.I believe Steltz led the league in HomeRuns with 4, Novak hit a touch over .600 on the season and Zeiser who was a phenomenal free agent pick up hit almost .500 in the regular season while Reisinger who was clearly the Comeback Player of the Year lengthened the lineup. Injuries to key players like Jay Day, Dave Zebrowski and Keith Jacques could have really been costly but guys like Matt Miles and Mike Kane stepped up and played great baseball all year long. Joe Burns was his usual Hall of Fame self playing a solid second base while batting over .360 and his double play partner Jim Hicks hit .400 and was excellent defensively at short all year long! Perhaps the most inspiring performance of the year was turned in by Hall of Famer Mark Dabney who battled injuries all year long to be a leader and key piece in this 2019 season! And of course Mickey Novak and Jimmy Johnson were the best pitchers in the league, dominating throughout the year!!

Congrats to Joe and the Giants on a great season! That is one impressive lineup of players that know how to win Championships.

Also hats off to Lex and the Bombers who with a solid core group that shows up every week established themselves as one of the best teams to ever play in this league.

See you all next year.

I echo skippers voice.
Congrats to the Bombers on another
great season.
I did fist pump when I read Doug R.
had the walk off. He has been one
the most underrated players in our
League for 20 years.

I have told him this many times. Doug R is the most clutch hitter in the league. Guy hits the ball hard every AB. HOF is waiting for him.

Congrats to my boys Doug, Dabs, Hicksie, Kane, et al, on continuing the Giants tradition of winning championships. One of the best franchises ever in CDMSBL.
