Albany Capitals Review

I would like to thank my teammates and coaches for an incredible time at the Roy Hobbs World Series. Our team went 3-4 and scored 54 runs over 7 games. Definitely the best hitting team I have ever brought to a Florida tournament. They all represented our CDMSBL with the highest respect and dignity. My coaches Don Ball and Tim Burns helped me handle all player issues, batting line-ups, and defense changes with an incredible respect for each player. The Roy Hobbs tournament frowns upon the "all star" type team that recruits throughout the United States and wants their teams to be from the same geographic location then breaks down the divisions into AAAA, AAA, AA, A and B quality of teams. 58 teams in our age group. It was nice competing in this format. Roy Hobbs gives the team an MVP MEDAL to award to a team member and their name will be published in next years magazine. Our team voted for the famous Johnny Weber who hit 0.500 during the tournament, pitched 11 shutout innings throughout the week and also cooked breakfasts and dinners for 12 guys during 7 days totaling over 150 meals. Our honorable mentions for MVP go to Timmy Borwick and Tim Burns who also had many extra hit games with batting averages in the high 400's. The "Rookie of the Year" goes to Jim Bradley with his display of hitting the ball to the fence in almost every game. Our other players who played hard all week are Tim Vickerson, Dave Reed, Shawn Martin, Steve Schaefer, Pat Alston, Mike Cleary, John Cortese, Mike Kocienski, Jim Preller, Jim Tesoriero, Don Ball and myself. As I write this it is snowing outside.....looking forward to stepping in the batters box soon. I think we are ONLY 140 days away!
