Avengers come up short

So the Avengers went into the playoffs Friday afternoon against the strong South Dakota Rushmores who were seeking revenge for an Avenger defeat in the playoff championship game of 2018 - and they got it. Rushmores hit, pitched and defended well throughout the game, Avengers did not. 1st inning went well for Avengers holding Rushmores scoreless and plating 2 runs in the their half. Wheels came off in the 2nd inning with a flurry of bunts and hits by Rushmores and some Avenger's errors making the score 6-2. South Dakota continued scoring via timely hits and Avengers struggled to string hits and score. Kervan went 2-3 and Buchan 1-2 scoing a run. Final Rushmores 12 - Avengers 2.

All in all - what could be better than playing BB in great weather getting wins during the week - giving some support to Mike Surin's squad - and all the while keeping an eye on the cold temps at our homes in our own Capital District. We'll go after our revenge next year.

Our thanks to Avengers manager Ron Michaelson of Springfield, IL who was inducted into the Roy Hobbs Hall of Fame on this World series trip. Ron has Hall of Fame credentials all the way from '59 IL High School State Champs to IL Basketball Coaches and Wheaton College Halls of Fame.

Again,
Brad B
