Saturday, September 5, the 55 Twins and Peppers played each other at Bethlehem, with a 10 AM start. The weather was picture perfect with full sun and 65 degrees at game time. The Twins prevailed 8-2 and held a precarious 5-2 lead going into the bottom of the 6th. Dave Plew, the starting pitcher for the Peppers was quite effective in the 3 innings he threw striking out 5. Plew also made the play of the game at second base when he jumped high to take a sure line drive double away from Lee Madsen in the 5th. John Newman went the distance for the Twins surrendering 3 hits and no earned runs. The Twins collected 13 hits but hurt themselves defensively yielding multiple errors on a tough Bethlehem infield. I must note that it was nice to play a game during the daytime instead of late in the day when we lose light the entire game.
