opening day 2006

Players, Managers, Officials, and Umpires;
We are one weekend away from starting our 17th season! Much preparation has occurred and I'm sure each manager has worked hard to get his team organized in the winter and spring. Your league officials have also been at it. The board and league office have certifed the divisional rules and they will be posted on the web site. The new CDMSBL umpire association will have its first offical chartered year. Jim Dalton is our Chief Umpire and we all owe a depth of gratitude for his service. Jim is a commisioner level official and with this postion we will have more direct control over the quality and cost of umpires. Its an important and rewarding part of the game and I hope more of our members decide to join Jim's ranks and umpire in a division you are not playing in. I believe he posted his contact info on this BB.
Well we have secured fields procured a new insurance policy, baseballs.....we're ready to go.

This year we will have 29 teams playing 318 games. An average of 3 games a day, every day. We're big but we are quality. We are also run by volunteers and managers. We try to maintain a bottom -up approach to how we operate.....its your league , you should all be proud when you take the field next week. welcome the new comers , they keep us fresh , 38 Giants, 28 Cards, 47 Yankees, 38 Mets. and welcome to new players on old squads. and good luck to those shuffling around. May it always be hot and dry and we all play errorless ball and hit the gaps. Play fair and safe and have some fun, see you out there. President John Reel 91-06

I agree Jim. I usually wait til after the last game has been played each year to offer my thanks, but I think as I get older, I appreciate it more. Thanks to you John, and all of those who give of their time so that we may play!!! Looking forward to each season is what makes winters in upstate NY bearable. Each player that gets to cross those lines owes these guys a hearty "Thank You"!
